Description
The story of the Rolex GMT-Master began in the 1950s when Rolex and Pan Am collaborated to design a watch for the airline’s pilots. Debuting in 1955, the original GMT-Master introduced an additional hour hand that tracked a 24-hour rotating bezel, enabling pilots to track multiple time zones while helping them minimise the effects of jet-lag. This vintage model from the 1980s boasts a black “corn grain” dial—a name inspired by the lume hour markers which, over time, developed a patina turning them a beige shade. The classic red and blue “Pepsi” bezel is another standout feature. This GMT-Master shows some sign of wear and aging, making it ideal for those who love vintage timepieces with added character.
This Rolex GMT Master 16750 has a black dial and a bracelet strap. Due to age, this Rolex may not fall within our typical expected tolerances for timekeeping, and is no longer suitable for use in wet environments or submersion in water. In the interests of preserving original features, utmost care has been taken to sympathetically restore this watch. It has also been referenced against technical documents and manufacturer records where available to ensure authenticity and a clean history. One of our skilled polishing technicians has removed marks on the case and bracelet of this watch, brought about by daily wear and tear, which is why this watch does not come with the remaining manufacturer’s warranty.
